CLOPHILL HERITAGE TRUST…
- Practical Work Experience (see case studies)
- Training Courses (see course listings)
There is a national deficit of heritage skills across the UK.
Bedfordshire enjoys a wealth of heritage assets which need to be looked after for future generations to use and enjoy. Providing heritage work experience for young people in the construction industry and making it affordable for employers is key to ensuring this maintenance is affordable and appropriate.
The Heritage Building Skills network is working in partnership with Bedford College to provide a supply chain network for Heritage Building Skills to enable both work experience opportunities and Heritage Training Courses.
Practical work experience is being provided through our network partners for outstanding students (currently from Bedford College) on Heritage projects throughout the region. This will enable many more students, not just apprentices, to gain valuable work experience and to enhance their opportunities to obtain employment at the end of their studies. We also work with the Prince's Trust to offer less fortunate people the opportunity to develop their experience and skills in this vital area.
Heritage training courses will cover a number of topics, e.g. Brickwork, plastering, etc., and will be held at appropriate sites, e.g. Shuttleworth College, Greensands Eco Lodge, etc. These courses will soon be available at a number of our delivery centres.
